Opinion Poll Reveals that 86% of Nigerians Have Faith in Buhari...

GLOBAL survey firm TNS has published the findings
of a recent opinion poll it conducted showing that as
many as 86% of Nigerians are confident that
President Muhammadu Buhari has the ability to fix
and grow the country's economy.
Conducted during the third week of August among
the adult population in the six geo-political zones, the
survey further showed that 55% of Nigerians believe
the country is heading in the right direction, while
74% think that the president is performing. Also 84%
of those sampled expressed trust on the president
and his government's ability to win the war against
Boko Haram insurgency.
In its survey, the poll sought respondents' opinion on
four key areas including President Buhari's
performance on the economy, fuel, power issues and
terrorism. The survey which interviewed 1001
Nigerians, showed President Buhari had an
impressive score among the population, who rated
his performance high and think he is going in the
right direction.
According to the poll, 91% of Nigerians support
President Buhari's anti-corruption crusade, while
86% are optimistic about how they will fare
financially in 12 months time. On the pace of his
administration, 45% think his is slow but steady, 31%
disagreed that he is slow, while 19% agreed that
President Buhari is slow.
Furthermore, the poll also indicated that 59% of
Nigerians endorsed the cabinet formation date fixed
for this month, 19% agreed that the date is far but
necessary, while 15% said the date should have been
earlier. TNS also surveyed Nigerians on the effect of
the naira's value, with many Nigerians saying that the
drop in the value of the currency to the US dollar was
bad for the economy.
On electricity, 74% of Nigerians reported improved
electricity supply while 78% of the population also
reported improved fuel supply. Also according to the
survey, 74% of Nigerians are more confident that
their state governments can better deliver good
governance than the national assembly, while 65%
expressed confidence in the senate.
