Anambra PDP exco may decamp to APC

There is strong indication that entire structure of the Anambra state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is set to dump the party to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

The move is coming on the heels of a surprise visit by the entire structure of the party in the state led by a former PDP governorship candidate, Mr. Tony Nwoye, to the National Secretariat of the APC in Abuja.

While receiving the 50-man delegation, the National Chairman of the APC, Chief John Oyegun, described the visit as indication that APC is about to uproot the opposition PDP from Anambra State.

"By uprooting PDP in Anambra State does not mean that we want to form a one party state, but we want the whole geo-political zones in the country to feel the impact of good governance which our party has promised Nigerians.

"I sincerely welcome you into our party as you have signified your intention to join our party, in our party, we believe in democracy, in fact, sometimes when we are discussing some issues and someone under me in the party happen to have a stronger ideas, I will just withdraw my own and listen to him, that is our party for you," he said.

Earlier, the leader of the PDP delegation from Anambra State, Mr. Tony Nwoye, explained that the entire structure of the party in the state have decided to join APC.

He said, "Before we came here to make our intention known, we have made series of consultation, we have met with the former Vice President, Chief Alex Ekueme, Chief Emeka Ofor and other elders of the party.

"We are not here to ask you give us anything, we are here to strengthen the APC. As a matter of fact, we are planning to stage a rally to make this intention known publicly, but we are waiting for you to give us the date for that."
