Anambra Central rerun: I’ll beat Umeh again, Ekwunife Senator Uche Ekwunife has boasted that she will beat Chief Victor Umeh again in the rerun election for Anambra Central Senatorial District.

On Monday, the Appeal Court nullified Ekwunife's election and ordered a rerun in 90 days.

Reacting to the judgment, Ekwunife said the same people that voted for her before would vote her again to win.
"I am not disturbed by the noise being made in government quarters concerning the outcome of the Appeal Court judgment, I am very optimistic that whenever the election is conducted, I will win. I beat Victor Umeh in the last election, but I want to tell you that in the rerun election, I will beat him again and beat him silly."

Meanwhile, Igbo leader and Chieftain of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka, has hailed the judgment which cancelled Ekwunife's election.
Speaking on the judgment, Ezeonwuka, who is the Ogirisi Igbo and also a member of APGA Board of Trustees (BoT) said the court has vindicated him because he had predicted that the said election would not stand the test of time because it was marred by gross irregularities.

He noted that the judgment reflected the true position of what happened in Anambra Central on March 28.

"The judges here have done a good job. This judgement is 100 percent correct because the election which INEC declared PDP candidate as winner was marred by fraud and gross irregularities that are clearly contradictory to the prescription of the electoral act. Personally, I am not surprised and I must say that the court has once more proven to be the agent of truth and last hope of the people," he said.

On the proposed rerun, the BOT member predicted that APGA is ready to trounce the PDP at the poll, saying that the party is alive and bubbling in Anambra at the moment.

He added: "In Anambra at this moment, people know that APGA is the only living party, other parties have lost ground because of the achievements of Governor Willie Obiano in the area of security, massive road construction and other things numerous to mention."
