SSG Anambra , Prof Solo Chukwulobelu tags Anambra stable and prosperous

The Secretary to the state government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, says the state government is totally committed to enhancing and promoting the welfare of Ndi Anambra.

He stated this at the Anambra State Economic Summit on "Firming the Foundation for a more prosperous state" organized by the voice to the people (v2p) project in collaboration with the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget, held in Awka.

Amaka Chibuzor-Okoye, who attended the event reports that Professor Chukwulobelu noted that the summit is timely as it will awaken the consciousness of stakeholders and players in the industry to the realities on ground, and that the outcome of the meeting will further strengthen and add more impetus to what the state government is already doing.

The Secretary to State Government represented by the government house permanent secretary, Mr. Dan Ezeanwu, pointed out that governor Willie Obiano's economic blue print is strategically designed to keep the state on a higher pedestal amidst challenges and assured that all pragmatic solutions and recommendations offered at the end of the summit will be adopted by the state government for an economically stable and prosperous state.

The Project Manager, governance, Justice Development and peace Commission and Head, "Voice to the people project" in the state, Mr. Uche Mmadubuko, stressed the importance of the event, especially now that there is a committed government in the state and said they have come to contribute their quota by opening a dialogue that will usher in strategies for entrenching a stabilized economic standard in the state.

For the Director, Planning, Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget, Mr. Kingsley Orji, the essence of the programme is to come up with recommendations that will solve the state's economic challenges arising from the fall in price of crude oil at the international market which serves as a bench-mark for the nation's economy.

Presenting a paper on opportunities and challenges of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises growth in the state, a lecturer from the University of Ibadan, Mr. Sunny Chuba Nwachukwu, said that the state government should, among other things, have an economic development plan to alleviate poverty and unemployment among the teeming graduates, while policy makers need to focus and learn the best practice in fostering technology transfer and identifying critical innovation barriers and gaps towards achieving increased productivity and structural transformation of the Anambra economy.

The Summit was attended by political leaders, civil servants, civil society organizations (CSO's) and religious leaders, among others.
