4 killed in northern Pakistan after massive Afghanistan quake

At least four people have been killed and scores others are injured in northern Pakistan, after a massive 7.5 magnitude #earthquake occurred in neighboring Afghanistan on Monday afternoon, reported Reuters citing local officials.

The strong quake struck the mountains of northern Afghanistan's Hindu Kush region, the US Geological Survey said, sending tremors that were felt in India and Pakistan.

The quake was 196 km (120 miles) deep and centered 82 km (51 miles) southeast of Feyzabad in a remote area of Afghanistan in the Hindu Kush mountain range.

Electricity was out in some areas of Kabul. In neighboring Pakistan, local media has been reporting that some school buildings collapsed in Sargodha, leaving dozens injured. Phone lines have also reportedly been affected in the city of Lahore.

Meanwhile, in the Indian capital of Delhi, the authorities halted underground metro services. India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked for an urgent assessment and said that the country was ready to provide assistance where required, including in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
