The Anambra State Government is happy to announce to the general public that the recent electricity blackout experienced in some parts of Awka Capital Territory is gradually being rectified.
This is sequel to the recent replacement of the electric wires and transformer cables which were recently vandalized by hoodlums along Agu-Awka - Awkuzu electricity transmission lines, supplying lights to some parts of Awka metropolis and environment.
Government is also delighted to note that with the restoration of normal power supply, some household, industries and small scale business owners who require electricity but were handicapped by the blackout can now, to a reasonable extent, perform their household chores or carry out their legitimate businesses.
Consequently, government hereby continues to call on all communities in the state to take full ownership of government facilities installed in their areas by guarding them against vandalization or outright stealing. Traditional rulers, presidents general of town unions, stakeholders, and individuals are also by this announcement directed to provide adequate security for all government installations in their areas and report anybody or group of persons caught vandalizing government property to law enforcement agencies.
Government further directs the task force set up recently to check the mindless vandalization of electric wires and transformer cables in the state to intensify its efforts to ensure that vandals are apprehended and prosecuted according to the law.
