The World Bank team, which was made up of Nigeria's representative, Mr. Rajj Pasame, the national coordinator, Mr Koje Akpan, among others, later paid a visit to Governor Willie Obiano at the Governor's Lodge, Awka, to brief him on their findings.
In a remark, the leader of the team, Dr Adekola, said Anambra state has reached the set target due to the huge investment it is making in the education sector which, in turn, has placed the educational status of the state on a high pedestal.
Dr Adekola, pointed out that there is need to do more especially in the area of employment where, he said, the World Bank will partner the state for effective results.
He drew the attention of the governor to a school at Nnewi, where they observed lack of seats and appreciated the partnership between the state government and private individual in the establishment of a technical institution in parts of the state with special reference to technical and vocational schools in Nnewi.
On his part, the country's representative, Mr Pasame, urged the governor to introduce a system that would inform the populace on how to access such opportunities as provided by the state government and the World Bank.
Receiving the group, Governor Obiano acknowledged that the World Bank has been a driving force to most of the achievements recorded in the sector and briefed the team on some of the measures being put in place to provide quality education in the state.
While instructing the ministry of education, to as a matter of urgency, provide seats in all the schools with such challenge, Governor Obiano added that government is stepping up efforts to promote girl-child education by citing schools close to farmers and traders, to avail them access to education, at no cost.
Also speaking, the Secretary to the State Government Professor Solomon Chukwulobelu thanked the World Bank team especially for its promise to assist the state in the area of employment.
