Two Nigerian forwards, Odion Ighalo and Kelechi
Iheanacho, were their clubs' heroes on Saturday in
the English Premier League.
Ighalo scored the only goal in the 59th minute as
Watford got their first victory of the season with a 1-0
result against Swansea.
A happy Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh tweeted
after Ighalo's goal: "Congrats to Odion Ighalo as his
goal gives Watford all 3 Points over Swansea."
Incidentally, Oliseh left both players out of the Super
Eagles squad for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier
against Tanzania, which ended goalless.
Iheanacho's goal, his first official senior strike, was
also the winner, but came with more drama.
The youngster scored in the 91st minute, pouncing
after the Crystal Palace goalkeeper spilled a Samir
Nasri shot to give City their fifth straight victory.
Iheanacho had only been on the pitch for barely one
minute after replacing Wilfried Bony.
Ighalo has now scored more league goals (top four
tiers) than any other player in England in 2015: 18 in
23 games.
