Suspected pipeline vandals early today struck at the Arepo area of Ogun State, killing about 10 operatives of the Department of State Security (DSS).
Daily Sun learnt that the vandals had already vandalised one of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) pipelines in the area and were siphoning fuel, when the DSS operatives stormed there.
Witnesses said, a gun duel had ensued between both parties and when the gun duel ended, the operatives were discovered dead.
However, as at press time, their operational vehicle has been recovered, alongside the corpses.
A DSS personnel who spoke on anonymity however said that they DSS personnel were not at Arepo to raid the creeks as touted, rather they went for a wake keep.
Investigations also revealed that the DSS has already involved the services of the Armed Forces in Lagos as reinforcement.
With the reinforcement in place, the source said sooner than later, the brains behind the massacre would be caught and made to face the law.
