The State police command has arrested one Mr. Uchenna Okoye for pouring hot cooking oil on his wife, Njideka.
Interrogating the suspect, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Okechukwu Ali, while condemning the action of Mr. Okoye, advised husbands who maltreat their wives to desist from such act, urging them to understand the essence of marriage, noting that children can, always be influenced by the attitude of their parents.
On his part the suspect, Mr. Okoye, said that he came back from work on Tuesday last week and demanded his meal from his wife, who told him that she was expecting the person she sent to buy food item for her.
According to Mr. Okoye, he became furious and asked him why she should send somebody to buy food item when he had earlier warned her never to do so.
Mr. Okoye, who regretted his action, revealed that he has brought the wife back home and promised never to repeat such act.
Meanwhile, investigation is ongoing to ascertain the cause of the incident as the suspect is cooling his head at the Central Police Station in Awka.
