Odumegwu University sign memorandum of understanding in Academics

Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, University of Eldoret, Kenya and Kyambogo University, Uganda, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for collaboration in Academics, Research, Teaching and Training.

The Memorandum of Understanding, which brought to an end, a four-day International Interdisciplinary Conference on Global Initiative for Integrated Development, was aimed at maximizing opportunities for the mutual benefit of the three Universities.

The Memorandum of Understanding was consummated in Awka, venue of a farewell dinner, after days of strenuous academic exercise.

The State Commissioner for Education, Professor Kate Omenugha, who was present at the event, noted that the Memorandum of Understanding had rekindled the spirit of unity among Africans.

She urged the parties to sustain the agreement, expressing hope that more African Universities will join the collaboration for the benefit of the continent.
The Vice Chancellor, University of Eldoret, Kenya, Professor Theresa Akenga, represented by Professor Patrick Kafu, her Kyambogo University, Uganda Counterpart, Professor Eli Katunguka represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Dr Fabian Nabugoomu, expressed the hope that the African continent will discover herself when she becomes part and parcel of the academic, programmes of her various Universities.

The Vice-Chancellor, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Professor Fidelis Okafor, who was full of appreciation to the originator of the conference, Reverend Sister Mary-Felicia Opara, thanked the state government for showing interest while the conference lasted.

Highlight of the event was the signing of the Memorandum of Under-stand by the Universities' Vice-Chancellors, while the visitors were treated to assorted local delicacies and the famous Mkpokiti dance.

Commissioner Omenugha equally presented to the visitors, gift bags containing the Ozoemena booklet, investment guide, state's shared values and vision, among others, while the Ugandan contingent presented their national flag to the Vice-Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Professor Okafor.
