For a second time within weeks, hundreds of INEC ad-hoc staff who worked during the last general elections, besieged the Commission's headquarters in Awka to demand their entitlements, five months after the elections.
Speaking to the ABS, one of the protesters, Mr Emmanuel Muruakor said that the commission had subjected them to untold hardship since the conclusion of the general elections when all their counterparts, nationwide, collected their money several months ago.
Mrs Rita Akpudo and Miss Chinelo Okoli who coroborated the story said the INEC Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr Frank Egbo said that some of the protesters have no reason to be at their office.
He added that INEC had made a public service announcement asking the ad-hoc staff to visit their various banks last Friday to collect their cash payment and that whoever has any issue should contact the electoral officer of the Local Government where he or she worked.
Mr. Egbo also spoke on the issue of those whose names were not captured in the INEC payment list but were recruited by the commission and actually participated in the elections.
