The Police Service Commission (PSC) has commuted
the dismissal of former Commissioner of Police in
charge Counter-Terrorism Operations at Zone 7,
Abuja, CP Zakari Biu under whose supervision, a
notorious Boko Haram suspect, Kabiru Sokoto,
escaped along Abaji road to retirement.
The PSC also approved the promotion of two
Commissioners' of Police to the rank of Assistant
Inspector's General of Police.
Recall that CP Zakari Biu appealed against his dismissal, blaming the escape of the Boko Haram suspect on other extraneous factors other than those attributed to him, resulting in the PSC exonerating him and retiring him statutorily.
A statement signed by Ikechukwu Ani, head of
Information at the Commission, noted that "These
decisions were the high points of the 13th plenary
meeting of the Commission held in Abuja yesterday".
"The meeting presided over by the Commission's
Chairman, Sir Mike Mbama Okiro, promoted CP.
Danladi Adi Yirama Mshielbwala and CP Ibrahim Idris
to the next rank of AIG.
"It also exonerated CP Biu from the issues
surrounding the escape of Kabiru Sokoto, an arrested
Boko Haram kingpin in Abuja."
