Town union executives are instruments of development

The Caretaker Committee Chairman, Ihiala Progress Union, Chief Mike Ejezie, has described town union executives as veritable instruments for social and communal development.

Speaking to newsmen in Ihiala, Chief Ejezie remarked that because of their proximity to the grassroots, town union executives feel the pulse of the rural dwellers, know their problems and act as important intermediaries between the local and state governments, and the people.

According to Chief Ejezie, they have the responsibility of relaying to the government the problems of the people, and ensuring peace and stability in their respective communities.

He pointed out that it was in view of the vital role town union executives play, that Governor Willie Obiano's administration has given them full recognition and put in place all that is required to enable them perform their duties creditably.

Chief Ejezie, described education as a vital instrument for human resource development and stressed the need for Nigerian Youths to acquire technical skills to be self-reliant in order to contribute their quota to nation-building.
