UNN Students Slam Varsity Authority

The authorities of the University of Nigeria (UNN), Nsukka, at the weekend, received a knock from students doing sandwich courses, for lack of commitment by their lecturers.

The President, Caretaker Committee of Sandwich Students Union Government, Mr. Agaba Benedict, expressed the students' disappointment during the 52nd anniversary of Institute of Education of UNN.

He said sandwich students were unhappy and disappointed that some lecturers only came to the class once to introduce their courses and only return to class on examination day.

Agaba, however, urged the Director of the Institute of Education to leave up to the expectation of his members.

"There should be an effective monitoring of lectures by the Institute of Education. Some of the lecturers ought to be more serious with their job, than surfacing, after introducing their courses, on exam day.

"This is not a good image for the institute as sandwich students at the end of the day are not given the quality training they paid for," he said.

Agaba said that it took sandwich graduates three to four years to get their final result, and so appealed to Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Benjamin Ozumba. to approve the results of sandwich students – alongside that of regular students.
