Bacon, sausage and some other types of processed meat could lead to cancer, according to a possible World Health Organization report, which is reportedly due to be published next Monday, according to the Daily Mail.
The processed meat could be as big a cancer-causing substance as cigarettes, alcohol, arsenic and asbestos, said The NHS Choices, the UK's official healthcare website.
There's a link between eating processed meat and the risk of bowel cancer, it suggested, because "people who eat a lot of these meats are at higher risk of bowel cancer than those who eat small amounts."
However, things could get a bit ironical when it comes to the 116-year-old Susannah Mushatt Jones, the world's oldest living person, who had a great appetite for bacon. She was reported to eat four strips of bacon along with scrambled eggs for breakfast, and eats bacon throughout the day!
