Man woos beloved girl with sand sculpture

Trying some creative ideas to court the object of affection may boost your odds of success, as evidenced by this man in central China's Wuhan city. He won his girl's heart by making a sand sculpture of her.

Shi Xuan and five other sculptors yesterday created a 1.5-meter-high pyramid-shaped sand sculpture with a girl's portrait on one side. Shi said the portrait on the campus of Hubei Institute of Fine Arts has an 80 percent degree of similarity with the girl. Rather than a piece of showy artwork to display his talent, Shi did the sculpting for a romantic purpose – baring his heart to his beloved one.

The girl accepted Shi's ring and hug as a quick reply to the surprise courtship while the crowd around them cheered and shot photos.

Shi said he met the girl on a blind date, although she rejected him at the time. Hours and hours of hard carving, however, helped him win back the girl's heart.
