Woman fined for singing while driving

A woman driver was punished by traffic police after a video of her holding and singing into a microphone while driving was exposed online, according to a report from Chengdu Evening News on Thursday.

The video recorded by a passenger in another car this Tuesday shows the woman, who seems to be grossly intoxicated, singing into a glistening golden microphone, like in a KTV house. Due to heavy traffic, the travel speed was slow but the woman still controlled the steering wheel by only using her right hand while singing from time to time into her microphone.

After the video was spread online, it instantly drew the traffic police's attention. On Thursday, the Chengdu traffic police gave her a lesson on traffic safety and carried out a 2-credit punishment and fined her 200 yuan. In China, when a driver is penalized with credits amounting to 12, the driver has to take the traffic regulation study all over again and has to pass a test.

In the meantime, the video has also evoked a hot discussion on social media.

"…She did not take traffic safety into consideration and [her driver's license] should be withdrawn," commented @Zhiyangge27668.

"It is a pity that she has not signed up for The Voice of China," quipped @Wangzongan.

"Be famous or notorious, she just wanted to put herself in the spotlight of the public. We see you as mad," commented @Danqiushaonvcongqiaoshangzouguo.
