Emeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, one of the sons of the late Igbo leader, Chief Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, has commended the Muhammadu Buhari administration for the reforms in the telecommunications sector.
The young Ojukwu, who is the Sole Administrator of the Nnewi-North Local Government Area of Anambra State, gave the commendation on Tuesday during a town hall meeting organised by the commission for telecommunications providers and subscribers in the area.
He said the Nigerian Communications Commission had recently initiated various programmes for the education of telecoms subscribers in the rural areas.
He noted that the initiatives began after the inauguration of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration, adding that it showed the passion of the administration towards improving the lot of the rural dwellers.
At the event, the NCC warned mobile telephone users not to give out their phones to strangers in order to avoid being implicated in crimes.
The Executive Vice-Chairman of the NCC, Professor Umar Garba, gave the warning.
Garba was represented on the occasion by the Deputy Director, Consumer Affairs Bureau of the NCC, Dr. Femi Atoyebi.
Garba restated that the essence of the SIM card registration by subscribers was to ensure that any crime committed using any particular phone would be easily detected.
