Aimee Hernando got the “best birthday present ever” when her daughter was born on the same day that she — as well as her mother — was. |
The Arizona mother of four welcomed her daughter on Monday, Hernando’s 33rd birthday and the 56th birthday of her mom, Tammy Pierce. Due to give birth at the end of January, Hernando told ABC News Thursday that she wondered if the timing would work out for another child to share the special day. “Then when I went into labor, I just kept thinking, Oh my goodness! Is this really happening? she said, adding, “I got in, told the doctor, ‘She has to come before midnight.’”

After
enjoying sharing a birthday with her mom, Hernando explained, “I just
thought, Oh, how great would that be to experience that myself. Three
generations would just be really crazy. And it happened.”
Hernando
and her husband named the baby girl Miracle Joy — and grandma Pierce
believes the name is fitting. “[She is] a miracle from God,” Pierce
declared, in part because Hernando and her husband had only just
recently struggled with fertility. Fourteen months ago, all that changed
when the couple welcomed a boy, joining their two adopted sons, ages 11
and 8.
Another
reason the “miracle” name is a fitting choice? The eerie coincidence
that the infant’s birth weight fell into sequence with her mother’s and
her grandmother’s. “My mom’s birth weight was 6 pounds 10 ounces, mine
was 6 pounds 9 ounces, and Miracle’s was 6 pounds 8 ounces,” Hernando
revealed.
“We just thought that was so cool!”
