IGP Arase inaugurates Multimillion Police station built by Philanthropist in Anambra community and Photos

Inspector General of Police , Mr Solomon Arase on Thursday inaugurated an ultra modern police station in Awgbu community Orumba North local Government area, Anambra state built by a Philanthropist , Chief Okey Ezeibe amidst pomp and ceremony. The Chairman Orumba North council area Chief Okey Enekwe was the Chief Host.

IGP Arase represented by the Anambra state Commissioner of Police , CP Hassan Hosea Karma and other top ranking police officials announced that the Police post currently under Ajalli Divisional Police Station led by Mr Patrick Odoemelem will soon be upgraded to a full police station as it is built as a police station.

The CP also inaugurated a brand new Toyota Hilux van and a generator set for the use of the station. The building has modern cells for male and females with enough rooms about 8 rooms for officials of the station as well as reception and waiting room. There is an overhead tank among other facilities.

CP Karma commended Awgbu community and their illustrious son Chief Ezeibe and the local government chairman of Orumba North , Chief Okey Enekwe for their contributions in making the police station a reality, describing it as part of the collaborative efforts expected from communities for security of lives and property to be actualized.

Orumba North local Government Chairman, Chief Okey Enekwe in his remarks insisted without adequate security, development and economic emancipation would not be guaranteed hence his administration is committed to actualizing security in the communities in the area especially to forestall any communal uprising in the Enugu board communities with Orumba North on Anambra part.

Chief Enekwe commended the Inspector General of Police Mr Arase, AIG Zone 9 Umuahia , Usman Gwary and CP Anambra , Karma as well as Governor Peter Obi for their support in actualizing security in Anambra state and the zone.

Member of the House of Assembly, Hon Romanus Ugochukwu Obi said Chief Okey Ezeibe has been instrumental to development in Awgbu community having facilitated electricity for the community several years ago and now built the police station for the community to nip some crime in the bud in that axis like kidnapping, as they were victim of kidnapping when the traditional ruler of Awgbu Igwe, Igwe Mike Okechukwu was kidnapped for 9 days.

The donor, Chief Okey Ezeibe who refused to disclose the cost of the multi-million project informed that without the community donating the land and supporting its actualization , it would not be realized, and expressed gratitude to the CP for posting 14 policemen to resume duties at the police post. He said the furniture for the offices and other requirements will be done immediately. He said after the police station is completed , they would embark on building of a Customary court and an Abattoir among others to develop the community, adding that a modern market is ongoing now. He said he is doing the efforts to support Governor Willie Obiano's security initiative in Nigeria.

President General of the Community, Prof Chris J.A Onwuka reminded that with the presence of the police station at the strategic junction, activities of deviants will be minimized as proactive policing will be deployed even as he appreciated the donor , Chief Okey Ezeibe, and Orumba North chairman Chief Okey Enekwe for their efforts in making Awgbu and environs benefit from infrastructure upgrade in line with Obiano's policy as the security will attract development.
