Members of the Lagos state House of Assembly Health Service Committee
has ordered the closure of the Gbagada General Hospital's Blood bank
after it was discovered that screened & unscreened blood in the
blood bank were not separated.
Speaking after the inspection exercise which occurred yesterday January 12th, the Chairman of the committee, Segun Olulade, expressed dissatisfaction at the level of disorganization witnessed in the blood bank unit.
The team also inspected the Cardiac and Renal center of the hospital where they discovered that the equipment was being under utilized. According the director of the centre, Prof. Babatunde Olabode Green, some of the acquired world-class medical equipment were not functioning, either due to improper installations or poor quality of installation materials.
