Anambra Sanitation exercise witnesses low turnout

Today's sanitation exercise recorded low turnout as people no longer adhere to the instructions of keeping their vicinity clean.
Amaka Chibuzor-Okoye who monitored the exercise, reports that as early as seven o'clock this morning, from Ifite Awka to Aroma junction, was as busy as any other day as commuters were seen going about their daily activities.

On getting to Amaenyi, some of the shops were under lock and key whereas their owners were idling away while their environment were littered with dirts.

Some people were also seen selling food and others eating and drinking.

When ABS news crew moved in to interview them, none of them agreed to speak on camera but kept shouting that there is no adequate information as regards the sanitation exercise.

From Zik Avenue down to Eke-Awka it was business as usual as traders were seen going about their normal business also at Unizik junction vehicles were loading and none of the security men were on the road to intercept defaulters except for the officials of the FRSC who were seen at Amawbia and Aroma junction.

Some of the receptacle bins designated at some strategic areas were empty as ASWAMA officials with their lock-up van were evacuating refuse to the dumping site.
