The Chief Judge of Anambra, Justice Peter Umeadi, said on Wednesday that the state government had approved the construction of 14 twin-court halls in different parts of the state.
Umeadi made this known during the inauguration of a new Magistrates' Court building in Ukpo, Dunukofia Local Government Area of the state.
According to him, when completed, the new court halls will give a new lease of life to the judiciary and promote productivity.
He lauded the state government for its policy to make justice available at the grassroots, adding that it would advance the cause of justice and staff development.
"Under the policy, justice is now abundant to the people, court rooms are refurbished for the comfort of staff and new cars are given to officials of the court.
According to the chief judge, Nteje, Achalla, Eziowelle, Nanka and Ukpo communities have built court rooms and donated same to the government for quick dispensation of justice.
He said that brand new cars had been distributed to court registrars, deputy registrars, magistrates, directors, among others, for efficiency.
Umeadi commended, Mr Arthur Eze, a businessman, for his assistance in completing the Ukpo court room and urged him to go further to build the main court complex for the government.
Speaking at the occasion, the Chairman of Dunukofia Local Council Area, Mr Chukwudi Okeke, appealed to the chief judge to give approval for the construction of a High Court in the area. (NAN)
